Florence to Pisa Friday 24 February 1893 |
|
After an early breakfast the group left by train for Pisa. On arrival, afraid they might miss out something of interest, they hired a guide and set out to explore. As usual, the first place visited was the Cathedral which is built entirely of white marble with black and coloured ornamentation.
Next was the ‘Leaning Tower of Pisa’ – one of the wonders of the world.

Heavy rain made sightseeing uncomfortable and, after lunch, the group boarded the train and continued on their way. They passed marble quarries, small towns like Sarzana, Spezia and fifty eight tunnels, arriving at Genoa at 6 pm, tired and dusty. |
